茶碗 - Green Tea Bowl is the essence of Raku. Dating back to late 1500's Raku ware was established to maximize the experience of consuming green tea through tea ceremony by the most powerful men of Japan of the time.
"Tong marking" on the bowl indicates this one was handled manually in our kiln piece by piece.
This scenery on this chawan is arrival of Spring. When snow begins to melt, ferns and other plants sprout all over Japan. It symbolizes new arrival, beginning and the excitement for a warm season to come.
